About POTS Electrolytes

Hydration that helps you stay upright.

POTS Electrolytes is an independent field guide to living well with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and related forms of dysautonomia. We focus on the practical side of daily life — fluids, sodium, routines, heat, and energy — and translate the research into plain language.

We are a small group of writers and editors, some of whom live with POTS, covering hydration, daily logistics, routines, and the underlying science. We have no products to sell and no sponsors to please — only readers to serve.

Everything here is for general education. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified clinician who knows your history. Always discuss changes to your fluid or sodium intake with your own healthcare team, especially if you have kidney, heart, or blood pressure conditions.

The masthead

Marisol Vandermeer

Contributing Editor. Marisol covers the evidence on sodium, fluids, and orthostatic symptoms, and edits every field guide in this manual for accuracy and plain language.

Idris Okonkwo

The Science. Idris writes about autonomic physiology and the research behind blood volume, sodium, and standing tolerance — what the studies actually show, and where the evidence runs thin.

Tamsin Brandt

Routines. Tamsin covers the practical side of pacing: morning loading, gentle exercise, and recovery routines built to be repeated. She writes the step-by-step protocols here.

Rafael Mireles

Daily Living. Rafael lives with POTS and reports on the logistics of dysautonomia — heat, travel, desk work, and standing in line — in field notes written from inside the condition.
